Join the Sunbear Society!

The most effective way to support our work is by pledging to donate on a recurring monthly basis. This allows for us to plan into the future and support grassroots advocacy more effectively.

To join the Sunbear Society, simply click through to our donation page, type in the amount you would like to pledge and select “monthly” in the dropdown menu. If you are based in Australia, you can sign up to the Sunbear Society here. US and Australian based donors will be sent a Sunbear Society camping mug as thanks.

The Borneo Project is fiscally sponsored by Earth Island Institute, a 501(c)3 organization.

Volunteer

Sometimes our supporters organize fundraisers, host dinner parties to let their friends know about our work, help with administrative tasks, or contribute specific skills in a volunteer capacity. If this sounds like you, please fill out our volunteer form here.

Many people around the world reach out to us asking if they can volunteer and spend some time in the field. Unfortunately volunteer work is not usually feasible as we don’t have the capacity to manage and train volunteers from abroad. While we appreciate the kindness and generosity of those who reach out willing to donate their time, there isn’t much day-to-day field work to do. Wherever possible, our projects and campaigns are devised and run by local communities — not by international volunteers. However, if you are based locally in Sarawak and are interested in volunteering, there may be ways that you can engage. Please contact our local partners, SAVE Rivers and KERUAN Organisation for inquiries.

Come to Sarawak

While we can’t host international volunteers, we do think that Sarawak is a fantastic place to visit. We wrote an article listing many places we think you should visit, which you can find here.
