Types of Data collected
Among the types of Personal Data that The Borneo Project collects, by itself or through third parties, there are: Cookies, Usage Data, first name, last name and location. Apart from its donor and email lists where opt-in consent is explicit, The Borneo Project does not have access to, collect or process de-anonymized personally identifiable information.
Website: Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to track the success of our online content using general demographic and traffic data such as age and location. We track our digital fundraising pathways to better understand where funding is coming from. Although Google collects a wealth of data on its users, we are provided with no information beyond general demographic statistics.
Email Newsletters: Mailchimp
We use Mailchimp to reach our audience through monthly newsletters, event invitations and fundraising campaigns. We collect the name, email address and zip/post code and save this information in our Mailchimp lists. This is individual data hosted on the Mailchimp servers. Members of our mailing list have digital two step opt-in, with a “subscribe” button as well as Mailchimp’s automatic confirmation opt-in email. Consent is freely given and complies with the EU GDPR.
Donations: Salesforce and Acceptiva
We use Salesforce to manage our donor lists. All information gathered here is provided to us by our site visitors or mailed in to our office address. We use this information to send out information about new campaigns and events that our donors are interested in, as well as new opportunities to donate. We never give or sell this information to any third parties.
Data for online donations include full name, address, billing address, phone number and email captured through the Acceptiva payment page. As a fiscally sponsored 501(c)(3), The Borneo Project is required to send a thank-you letter to each US based donor for their tax records.
We use Facebook’s advertising tools when we have an important message to share by boosting our Page posts. We also run Page like ads to our 1% lookalike audience. Facebook Ads do not provide us with individual names or IP addresses, but provide us with options for targeting such as interests, locations, age and gender.
