NGOs Urge Greater Inclusion in EUDR Task Force with Indonesia and Malaysia

As part of a joint statement, The Borneo Project and other leading NGOs have called for greater inclusion and stronger action in the EU-Indonesia-Malaysia Joint Task Force on implementing the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). We are deeply concerned that recent discussions excluded key stakeholders, including Indigenous groups and smallholders, who are essential to effective forest protection. The Borneo Project, along with 11 international NGOs, have urged the Task Force to prioritize inclusive dialogue and concrete measures to safeguard forests and support affected communities. Without meaningful participation, the goals of the EUDR risk being undermined.

In addition to The Borneo Project, signatories include: Bruno Manser Fonds (Switzerland), Fern (Belgium & United Kingdom), Human Rights Watch (United States), Institute for Ecosoc Rights (Indonesia), Jaringan Pemantau Independen Kehutanan (JPIK, Indonesia), Madani Berkelanjutan (Indonesia), Keruan Organisation (Malaysia), RimbaWatch (Malaysia), Satya Bumi (Indonesia), SAVE Rivers (Malaysia), and Serikat Petani Kelapa Sawit (SPKS, Indonesia).
